Light up a Life

Light up a Life – Pembrokeshire – Saturday 25th January 2014, 3.00pm Picton Castle, Haverfordwest.

Light up a Life is a series of very special community events that take place around the United Kingdom during December and January.  The events are organised by independent hospices to help families and friends come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.

The events are open to all, not just those cared for by hospices.

 About the events

Every hospice will have its own way of arranging a Light up a Life event.  The vital part of the service is being given the opportunity to dedicate  a message in memory of a loved one, either by lighting a candle, hanging a message on a tree, recording the name of someone special in a book of remembrance or reading aloud a favourite literary passage.

An event can take place in a variety of venues, gardens, churches, town squares, village halls – indeed anywhere that a group of people can gather safely.

For many the Light up a Life period is one of the most loved and meaningful events in the hospice calendar, it represents a time to receive comfort and to share hope with others.

Paul Sartori Foundation holds a Light up a  Life service in January, but the Light up a life season starts at the beginning of December and ends 31st January.  From this time onwards the community is notified of events  and people are able to pledge dedications in the Book of Remembrance.  Paul Sartori Foundation invites all community groups, churches or chapels to take part by holding their own services across the county in addition to our own.  Our aim is to ‘light up’ the county throughout the winter months in honour of  loved ones.
