Volunteers at the Paul Sartori Foundation, Pembrokeshire’s only Hospice at Home Service, will be celebrating the great efforts of their volunteers during National Volunteer Week, which runs from 1st to 7th June.

The Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service, celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, provides a range of services to people living in the final stages of a life limiting illness, including home nursing care, equipment loan, complementary therapy, bereavement and counselling support, clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, physiotherapy, advance care planning and training.

Volunteers are central to the work of countless charities, especially at Paul Sartori.  They are a valuable resource in helping in the shops sorting donations to helping individuals with living wills, and make a real difference to the charity and its services.

Caroline White, the Volunteer Coordinator at Paul Sartori recently joined the team, through funding awarded by the WCVA (Wales Council for Voluntary Action) Volunteering Wales Grant.  Caroline’s role is to enhance the volunteer programme at Paul Sartori.  She recognises first-hand the importance of volunteers in this sector and understands that resources are limited having previously worked at PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services).

This week is a great platform for us to thank our volunteers and the contribution that they make to Paul Sartori, mentioned Caroline White, Volunteer Coordinator at Paul Sartori, adding “we are attending various events during the week, so if anybody is interested in volunteering I urge you to come along and have an informal chat with us.”

Paul Sartori will be at the Farmers Market alongside PAVS on Friday 2nd June and will be attending the PAVS Volunteers Week Celebration Week on Wednesday 7th June at Regency Hall, Saundersfoot (10.30am – 3pm).  Additionally, they will be running a “Hats Off to Volunteers” Campaign during the whole week where Paul Sartori will be inviting individuals and organisations to wear a silly hat for the day and donating £1 to Paul Sartori.  All 11 stores throughout the county will be joining in the festivities of the occasion too.
